Sue & Garf (Precious Metal) and Lainey & Stu (Stuey) with Simon (Chimes) taking the shot.  Del (Grey Wolf) joined later.  This run was called at extremely short notice - the night before in fact - so apologies to those who didn't get enough warning.

Woody's Meet-Up at the Crook O'Lune

At the meet-up at Woody's, in the Crook O'Lune near Caton, were Simon, Garf & Sue and Stu & Lainey and it was here that it was noted that Garf was sporting new Daytona boots, and as you'll see from the title photo (above) everyone duly took the piss out of him saying that they were 'wellies' from the local garden centre Big Smile

However, almost perfect weather promised a great day ahead for the small group.

A spirited ride was led by Garf, from the Crook O'Lune past Kirkby Lonsdale, through Kendal and out onto Shap up the wondrous A6, finally meeting up with Del at the KFC in Penrith where lunch was had.

The girls said that the glare off Simon's head was causing them to squint their eyes   Embarrassed

Garf always finds new-fangled technology a bit taxing, so ended up taking a shot of himself instead of the group Confused

And Del came in for some more gentle jibing about the 'chicken strips' on his new ZZR against which Simon was all too happy to compare his strip-less front rubber Yes

Chimes Cuts Loose Early ..... Back Down Shap!

As Simon had late afternoon family commitments, he was reluctantly forced to return home back down Shap (oh, what a shame) and then onto the M6 for a quick dash back to Manchester.  He stopped for a brief photo-shoot on the way down Shap though.

In fact, Simon was lucky to be on the run at all.  On his way to the meet-up at Woody's he had stopped for fuel in Lancaster and was then unable to start the bike as his battery had suddenly gone flat Sad   After talking some poor sod who'd just popped into the petrol station for a loaf of bread into giving him a jump-start, he was able to continue on to Woody's.  Given that it's the original battery, and the bike's done nearly 41k miles, then he reckons that it doesn't owe him anything by now - so a new one's in order soon.

Run up to Melmerby & Back to Kendal

After bidding farewell to Simon the rest of the ride saddled up and took the A686 that heads to Hartside cafe, but stopped in Melmerby and just chewed the fat for about half an hour before Del set off back over the tops heading home.  This left Stu & Lainey and Garf & Sue to head back down over Shap to Kendal for an ice-cream.  It was then separate ways home.
