Rob & Julie (Canary) were again the only Ferrets who planned to go to the Thundersprint this year, and what a belter it turned out to be once more, in fact, even better than last year's.  So everybody else missed out on a really good weekend.  This is their report:

We had a pretty good ride to Northwich, apart from when we got to the A57 and it pissed it down.  When we got to the camp site, we found that it had been moved to a different venue.  And a good move it was too, as it was at a rugby club which allowed you to take advantage of all their amenities, such as the bar and cafe, and all at very reasonable prices.  There was a bike show and the odd trade stand on the camp site, which is a first for the event.  You could also test-ride any of the latest BMW's.  I was sorely tempted.

The night life is really good in Northwich, and everybody seems to be geared up for the Thundersprint, asking you what bike you'd got, and just generally talking about bikes and the forthcoming sprint.  We had a lovely day on Saturday, just chilling out and taking in Northwich.  The weather was fine for most of the day on the camp site.  Saturday night started early and turned out to be a good night out again, with transport laid on to take you to and back from Northwich town centre.

Sunday was also an early start, tent down and then we were into Northwich for a hearty breakfast to set us up for the day.  After this we went and picked our spot right at the starting line of the sprint.

We watched all the practices, and so far the weather was fine, then it came over on the tannoy that the Spitfire would be coming early as the weather forecast looked pretty grim, with heavy rain forecast.  The Spitfire came over and what a feeling we got from seeing such a magnificent plane!  I spent a bit of time in the paddocks, and nearly got a chance to speak to Jim Redman, but I think everybody else had the same idea, so I gave up and went back to the start line ready for the actual sprint.

As Jim Redman prepared to make his first run the rain started, and it never bloody stopped.  It just got heavier!

By 3 o'clock we decided we'd had enough and were getting soaked, so we made our way home in torrential rain getting absolutely soaked to the skin.

But, despite all the rain it never dampened our feelings for the Thundersprint, and we will definitely be going next year  We would highly recommend that anybody who wishes to see the sprint in the future should take advantage of the camping weekend, three nights for £20!  How good is that?
