Thundersprint
Rob & Julie (Canary) were the only Ferrets who planned to go to the Thundersprint this year, and what a belter it turned out to be, so those who didn't make it can suffer the knowledge that they missed a superb weekend, both in terms of the spectacle itself, and also in terms of the weather! Despite most of the Northwest being wet, especially on the Sunday, Northwich seemed charmed to retain wonderful weather. And this was certainly good news for the thousands who turned up for this unique, and free event. As you'll see later, there was another Ferret at the event, but at this point we'll turn you over to Rob's report of their weekend:
Our first stop, on the run over Friday evening, was for a cupper at the Cat n' Fiddle.
Once we'd set up camp at the site, it was out on the town!!! And what a great night it was! The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing. On Saturday we spent all day chilling out in the park while all around people were getting ready for the Thundersprint. Saturday night was out on the town again - bands on in the park and bands in the pubs. At the end of the night there was a free minibus to take you back to the campsite - now, how good is that?
Sunday morning we set ourselves up at the starting point, watching practice for the Thundersprint. By now the numbers of people had gone into the thousands - you could hardly move. Unfortunately, for some reason, we don't think the Spitfire display came over.
But the sprint got off to a great start with the famous veteran Jim Redman on his 1971 750 CR Honda. And just to contrast, there was Leon Haslam on his Ducatti 1000cc sport classic.
The weather over the weekend was bloody lovely, and it only rained on the way home. All in all it was a superb weekend.
Now, there was, in fact, another Ferret at the event on the Sunday, and this was Steve (SteveG) and his brother, who decided, on the spur of the moment, to get along around about lunchtime. You'll see from his photos that they were watching the run starts from behind the fence seen in the background on Rob's shots!
A nice Norton, or two, and a Triton.
