The first Social Event of the Flying Ferrets existence was held over the weekend of the 28th & 29th of January near Skipton.  In fact, it was not at that time a Ferrets Social at all, but purely a get together of a number of people who have been biking together for a few years now.  It was partly through this event that the Flying Ferrets has come into existence at all.  The event really did ram home how keen everybody was to keep the group together for many years to come.

The good friends at the event, and hence the inaugural Flying Ferrets, were:  Canary (Rob & Julie), Chimes (Simon & Debbie), Clive (Clive & Kit), Grey Wolf (Del & Mary), IanR, Jaker (John & Andy), Jane, Lensman (Paul & Polly), Nigs, Precious Metal (Gareth & Sue), Roxxo (Paul & Carol), Silverone (John & Dawn), Skippy, SteveG (Steve & Julie) & Stuey (Stu & Lainey).

Those who were able to get to the hotel just after lunchtime made their way into Skipton where a light lunch was taken at Morrisons cafe.  Then it was a look-see at the canal & market before some of us had a very interesting visit to the medieval castle.  Those who didn't make it to the castle just ended up shopping!

The evening started at around 5pm with people coming together in the hotel bar until about 7:30 when we moved into the restaurant for an excellent meal.

Although the Northern Cloggers Group are now well and truly history, there was still the last Cloggers riding season awards to be made.  And these went to Chimes (Simon) who got the Comic Award for doing the most comic poses and voices during events, Canary (Rob) who got the Footwork Award for the fastest left foot known to motorcyclists, and the Clogger of the Year Award went deservedly to Stuey (Stu) in recognition of his inspirational support for a fellow member of the group, nominated and awarded by the previous holder, Jane.  Very well done to you all, and an excellent choice Jane :-)

The Clogger of the Year Award trophy will be replaced by an appropriate Flying Ferrets one, as the original donator has asked for its return!  So, Stuey has the privilege of being the first Ferret of the Year, and the first ever holder of the new trophy.  Again, very well done, and deservedly so.  Of course, after the wonderful meal it was only right that people retired to the bar for a great night of nattering and fun.
