Another Easter has again afforded us all the ideal opportunity to do a little something for some of our area's most seriously ill and disabled youngsters, and at the same time to enjoy the chance to get out on our bikes.  This year, Woodheys Club had collected about 150 Easter Eggs, and they were distributed to the Francis House Children's Hospice in Didsbury, Wythenshawe Childrens' Hospital and the Stockdale Centre for Severely Disabled Children in Sale.  The delivery was done by the collected endeavours of the organiser of the event, John Armstrong of Woodheys Club,  a number of his friends and fellow club members and Simon, Clive & Kit from the Flying Ferrets.  In all there were seven bikes and eleven bikers who met up at the Club around 09:00.  Photos courtesy of Clive & Chimes.

Once everybody was loaded up to the gunnels with eggs, the convoy set off for the first stop at Francis House:

Around fifty eggs were delivered at this stop, with a chance for some of the kids to have a look at the bikes before it was off to Wythenshawe Hospital where a further batch of eggs were carried up to the children's wards, where we were very kindly provided with tea and coffee.  When we eventually went, many of the kids who could be moved were taken down to the hospital entrance to watch our departure.  This then left the Stockdale Centre to receive the remaining eggs:

Having given the lads and lasses their donated eggs, and plenty of sits on the bikes, the group split up with Chimes, Clive & Kit returning to Clive & Kit's for a bite to eat, having checked on the way, that nobody had turned up unannounced at the M60 junction 10 meet-up.  A call to Stuey, who was en-route and in Bolton, diverted Stu & Lainey directly to Clive & Kit's to share in the lunch.  After bacon butties, coffee, tea and cake, it was off on the post-egg-run ride-out, with a long-ish stop in Buxton:

Although the morning had contained a small amount of spitting rain and grey skies, by the afternoon it was clear blue skies and sharp bright sunshine, which made for wonderful views, and unlike last year, meant that pace could be maintained without the need for radar!

A thoroughly satisfying day on so many fronts, it was just a shame many of the Ferrets weren't able to make the event.  But, most importantly of all, it was the sheer and unadulterated joy written on the face of some of the kids that made it all so very worthwhile
