The Ferrets at the Vale of York Circuit Ride break (L-R):  Rob (Canary), Polly (Mrs Lensman), John (Silverone), Anna & Chris (Mrs & Mr Villager), Julie (Mrs Canary), Simon (Chimes), Dawn (Mrs Silverone), Steve (SteveG), Del (Grey Wolf), Sue (Mrs Precious Metal), Kit (Mrs Clive), George, Lainey & Stu (Mrs & Mr Stuey), Paul (Lensman) and Garf (Precious Metal) - [Clive taking the piccy].  The following people couldn't make it on the day, and you were all sadly missed:  Ian (IanR), Debbie (Mrs Chimes), Julie (Mrs SteveG), Ian & Linda (Olkno9) and John (Jaker), but we were all dead pleased to see that Paul (Roxxo) did manage to make it, although he did have to get straight back for work - sorry you couldn't make it also Carol (Mrs Roxxo).

April!  We moved this event from March because of the horrendous weather forecast, and what do we get in April?  But, of course, we didn't let this daunt us, and in reward we all had a superb day out.  The scenery was certainly spiced up no end by the addition of spectacular and dramatic weather effects, with everything from blizzards to bright sunshine.  Whatever your favourite weather, we had some of it today.  But, regardless of what the weather tries to do, the most enjoyable aspects were getting to meet up with trusty friends, and to have a chance to throw the old bikes around a bit on some lovely roads.

The Northwest contingent met up at 09:00 at the Tickled Trout, amongst the other two groups of bikers from various other clubs, so we nearly got an adoptee or two!

The route across to Squires Cafe for the Northwest group took us to an early breakfast break at West Marton, where the cafe was able to cope with our small group of 5 bikes and 8 people in quick order.

It was then on to Squires where we were amazed and extremely pleased to see Roxxo, and his new bike!

Yes, that's a Triumph Speed Triple 955i - and yes, the pillion seat has just come in to his local suppliers ... otherwise we wouldn't be seeing Carol again!!!  Very nice mate, and glad that you're slowly getting used to the colour!

We also met up with Rob (Canary) and Del (Grey Wolf) in the car park, so realised that both the Eastern and Northeastern contingents had beaten the Northwest to the cafe, and were already tucking in, or had already finished their food.

As the place was quite quiet (hardly surprising given the weather), it wasn't long before we had all got our orders and were tucking in.

Nasty blemish on the film there Garf!

Mounted up, the flock of ten Blackbirds and one VFR embarked on the Vale of York Circuit run, with a small stop in Sutton on Derwent:

Then, it was off again having said farewell to Del & George, who cut off from here via York and back up to the Northeast.

Before long, yet having had the opportunity of savouring some wonderful out of the way roads, we were back at Squires Cafe for a final drink before all making our separate contingent ways home.

The Northwest lot returned along a similar route to the outbound one, except we went via Ilkley before all peeling off on our separate ways home after Skipton.

So, in summary, it's worth stating that you obviously can't keep a good flying ferret down when it comes to the chance to meet up and enjoy some excellent biking roads.  It's just a shame that the conditions didn't allow full exploitation of those ace bends, but some of the long straights did get thoroughly and appropriately abused!

A few of Chime's shots:
